Messrs Guinness and Le Cren, Ltd., - "Waimatc. report as follows regarding the auction sale of the subdivision of suburban laud at Seaview, near Hiwiroa : Only one section (lot 6) was sold under the hammer, the prico realised being £65 per acre. After the auction, however, buying was free, and lots 7, 9. 10, and 11 were sold before close oi Tjiiriness on Saturday, while the auctioneers - hold several offers for other lots, and fine lot has changed hands twice. When the public realise how low the. ro-'erves are the other .sections will doubtless sell rap'.dly, for tins is "vitho.u fc doubt t!ie cheapest .suburban land that ha.-i been sold for years. It is . tile intention of some of the buyers to apply for town "water supply, as this can- probably be obtained ,-u .small expense. Marked maps- showini; the reserves on unsold lots are now on view un the board outside the auctioneer':~ . office. These «re> the original reserves, iind it i-. not t.lie owner's intention to reduce his prices. The unsold lots v. il shortly be withdrawn from sale, as higher values will probably be obtaine'i later. The public will find that cheaper land cannot be bought within the Miiue radius from town, and the exceptional advantages that Seaviev.- .offers ■would justify higher prices than Unreserves shown. There was a Very large attendance at the auction, but the public seemed disinclined to speculate. and this is no doubt caused by the foe'.init of. uncertainty, ruling at present. This class of laud, however, is scarce, and such blocks are certain to come into big value when the present depression passes.
