The Kakanui District Athletic Club he'd its fourth annual meeting in Mr R. Elder's paddock yesterday. The fine weather prevailing, drew a large attendance- from both town and country. Quite a number of competitors from Oamaru were present, and several had a very successful day. All events were well contested and some good races were witnessed. The takings at the gate amounted to £lO against £ll last year. The luncheon roonr-in charge of Mesdames Cleverley, Boaden, Walters, Dalgetv, Maffey, Barnett. Minty, Oats and Eddington. did good business, netting the sum of £7. A jumble stall conducted by Misses Boaden. Walters, Harnett (2), Leen, Minty, Dalgetv, and Mrs Gallagher, gathered the handsome sum of £ll. A sheep guessing competition. with Mr G. Tyson in charge, did • xcellcnt business. The proceeds for the day are to be devoted to the Patriotic Eunds. The North Otago Highland Pipe Band were in attendance andconsiderably enlivened proceedings during the qfternoon.
