(A. andxN.Z. Gable Assn. and. Reuter.) Received .January 11, at 7.40 p.iu. London. January 10. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We have seized and consolidated a section of trench east of Beaumont Hamel. We also made raids eastward of Loos and opposite Armentieres. We killed many of the enemy and a number were taken prisoner. Received January 12. at 10.13 a.m. Loudon, January 11. A French communique says: An enemy attack in the Bois des Carricres, on the right bank of the Meuse, was repulsed with serious enemy losses. (United Service.) Received January 11. at 8.50 p.m. London, January 10. General Jacques succeeds General Wielemanns as Commander-in-Chief of the Belgian Armies. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Pveeeived January 12, at 11.10 a.m. London, January 11. A wireless German official message says: We repulsed! an attack with lieavv losses north of Ypres - , and, drove out the British, 'who had penetrated our line on a narrow front. The enemy occupied, a salient trench, near Beaumont.
