The Hon. James Allen left for Wellington to-day. In an interview, he paid a tribute to the way the people of New Zealand were Taking the war. Speaking of the ballots, he said that in spite of the lack of precednnt nnd the need of procedure as they went along, the effect of the first ballot had already been to send over six hundred men to camp.
