(Per Press Association.) ) Wellington, janiiarv 10. A conference of delegates of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards opened to-day, with a representative attendance. Mr G. "VV. Minister of Public Health; Dr Valintine, Inspec-tor-General of Hospitals, were also present.
Ml- Baldwin, Chairmqn of the Wellington Board-, who presided, urged that tlie institutions should procure supplies on a basis of co-operative standardisation instead of through retailers, there"By effecting a great saying. , Mr Russell, in the course of an address'. said lie was not sure they would' not hare to tighten the control of the Government- in respect of the expenditure of hospital boards. He was not prepared to say in- what manner, but it might be in providing that all estimates' of_ expenditure of boards must be submitted to the Government, also that important appointments must be subject to the approval of the Government.
