Two sons and two daughters managed to cling to the tree and were rescued niter jii hours' exposure. I'ive others—Mr .Jenkinson, senr., and his wife, Mr Jenkinson. junr.. and his wife and child—were drowned.

A number of individual eases of drowning continue to be reported from various parts of the flooded country. Many people who were marooned were rescued after sensational escapes and severe sufferings. some being; almost demented. •
