Mlicit interest is being experienced in connection with the papal consistory at- the end of the month. The Pope i 6 conferring the red hat on the wellknown French patriot, Monsignor Labaiidy. The Bishop of Arras, who was transferred to Lyons, becomes Primate nt the French. The Archbishop of Ito-r.-on and Rcnnes are also created cardinal. making eight French cardinals as compared with five in Austro-Hun-gary and four in the British Empire. The selections made of cardinals is regarded as an indication that the political views of the Vatican are pro-Ally. The Catholics are delighted to find that, no Aiistro-German prelate is included in the promotions.
