. 'MAYWAItDS I'ICTt.ERS. A large and appreciative audience witnessed the initial screening of the new programme last evening. The films, headed by a thrilling spy story. "The- Lion's Clubs," are of a "diversifietl character, anil all tastes are catered for. The star picture, briefly described, runs thus:—Kari Kampf, oi the German Secret Service, is instructed to steal from two French generals at the Trafalgar Square Hotel. London, copies of despatches containin-: the Allies' plan of campaign. Tiie Frenchmen take a train journey. Kampf travels by the same train, n.> also does Edwards, of Scotland Yard, who is on Jits track. When Kamjn secures the papers he i> to throw them from the train to Seh«ebcrg, an accomplice. Kampf bores a hole in the partition ami inserts the neck o( a cyliniler filled with gat. The Frenchmen nre oxercome by the fumes, and •Kampf, stviiring the paper, throws them from the window. Billy, n Boy Scout, seo Scbocberg pick up the package, and becoming suspicious follows him. He sees him later when joined by_ Kampf, and overhears their conversation. He manages to secure the papers, but the loss is discovered, and the spies start in pursuit. They lose the boy's track, and Billy, although wounded, roaches the Scouts" camp and tells his story. A strung tie. tachment hastens to intercept the spies, and the Germans are on the point of escaping in ait aeroplane when the boys «warm round and overpower them, and carry them off triumphantly to head- - quarters. The supports are" of an entertaining and instructive description, and include "Cradle of the Australian Xavy," "Tin- Kefugee,"' a splendid drama by the Tlianhotiser Company, "Italian .Marble Quarries.'* the latest "Gaumont Graphic," aud a screamingly humorous Vitagraph film entitled •The Professional Scapegoat." Large - audiences should crowd the Picture Palace this evening, when the programme will bo preseuted for the last time.
