BLOCKADE ON GRECIAN COAST.
SEARCHING FOR .SUBMARINE BASES. Received March 30, at 12.45 a.m. Athens, March 29.. Allied warships landed men and blockaded Suda Bay, in the Gulf of Canea (Crete), where they demanded the surrender of the German Consul, which was refused. Landings were effected at - Chalcis (Euboea), in search of suspected petrol bases. Greece has protested. The British landed sailors at Patras and arrested two Germans. Fort. Psitalia. outside Piraeus waters, fired a blank shot at two British merchantmen carrying naval men who were searching the coast- line. Received March 30, at 8.15 a.m. Athens. March 29. The Hestia says two British cruisers filled with troops have, arrived at _S_nda Bay. The officers landed and visited the Consul at Canea. Ten more Allied warships have been sighted off Canea. The paper adds that the Allies nro preparing to land troops.

Five Allied warships arrived at Cauea on Sunday and demanded his release, and also the surrender of the Gorman Consul-* The Prefect, after communicating with t-fco Government, refused the demand and the Allied squadrou has initiated a blockade.
