FEILDING RECRUITING.
Per Press Association. Feilding, March 26The Defence Minister paid an official " recruiting vsit to Feilding to-night. The Hon. James Allen gave n stirTing open-air address to a crowd <>f between three and four thousand 1 . The Minister received a splendid hearing, and amkt hearty cheers, said: This u the final appeal under the voluntary system. Alien ore wanted up to the Twentieth Reinforcement*. 1 hope .the voluntary effort will render compulsion unnecessary. If compulsion comes eligible men who have married within the put«ix months -will be first drawn upon with single men without dependents." GchmJ tiding, the Minister urged all people to help in the work of having placed on the register men who had evaded registering, so that if compulsion came these men would not escape. A rote of thanks was carried with a volley of cheers. Mr Allen's visit was made the occasion for a big demonstration, the national reserve, territorials, senior cadets. fire brigade, and two bands taking part iu the jihicession.
