DEVELOPMENT OF STATE COAL JUNE. (Special to Oamaru Mail.) Wellington, December 21. Exploring headings are being driven into the newly discovered coal seam in the Liverpool State Coal mine at Greymo utli, and it is expected that, the results will soon- be known. Indications are satisfactory, and if the final report bears this out, the .success of the new mine is assured. The seam is known as the Morgan Seam, and was discovered by boring operations in Seven Mile Creek, the bore showing that it consisted of valuable bituminous coal, of an. average thickness of 17 feet. It appears to exift over an area of about 130 acres and. is estimated* to contain about 3,500,000 tons.
