RIOTOUS TERRITORIALS.
- TO BE DEALT WITH BY AUTHORITIES. "Per Press Association. Wellington, January 21. Five members of the Territorial Forces and three constables participated, in a melee in the street last night. Four of the soldiers were charged to-(hi v. three with obstructing a Constable, one with resisting, and another with 'inciting to resist and with assaulting a constable. _ A constable nave evidence that lip received a complaint that two men had been insulting a woman. He visited the locality, and found the men sitting on the kerbing. On speaking to them one man, who was not in custody, attacked witness with his bayonet, but the wea*>oii was taken from liim, and lie wp<- handcuffed. While he was bein-; taken to the police station two 'oilier* interfered. The constable was struck on the head, and the man got anav. Two more constables came ou the scene, and the four accused were larre'trd. - All »em convicted and handed over to .the military authorities to be dealt wif.h. Each was ordered to pay 3s Id damages to handcuffs and shako.
