I he" Waterside Workers' Union at. a meeting attended by 600 members expressed the unanimous opinion that a. permanent staff similar tc that proPosed on the Wellington waterfront be asainst the interest of unionism and of both workers and the shipping companies. The executive was empowered io take any steps necessary 'O oppose the new arrangement so far as jr. would interfere -with workers' conditions existing at Auckland, where utmost good feeling at present prevails between the Union and the employers.
