TIMARU ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
PROBABLE SUPREME COURT APPEAL.. (Per Phess Association.) Timaru, July 9. The first meeting of the newly-elect-ed council of the "local Acclimatisation Society to-day reached a- deadlock before any business was transacted. At the election three members ivere. declared elected whose nominations were accepted after the notified time. The secretary had refused them, but the annual meeting decided to accept them. The objectors consulted the Society's solicitor, who advised that the nominations had been wrongly accepted, and the next three on the list must bo declared fleeted. At to-day's meeting the three who had been declared elected and the three whom the solicitor stated should have been declared turned up, and all claimed seats, counsel's opinion being produced by "both parties. The whole business was tied up, and grobably an appeal will be made to the upremie Court to decide the dispute.
