"At the i-eqiiest of the Actor's Association the Archbishop conducted a« impressive memorial service in the Anglican Catfoptkal for the Empress of Ireland victims,';and paid a tribute to Mr Laurence. Irving. Many actors and prominent citizens were present. References to the disaster were made in other churches. Mr Walter Bentley, at the Unitarian Church, paid,a tribute to Mr Laurence Irving. ■' ■ ' Brisbane, June- 8. A cable, received from the father confirms, the news that Miss Gertie Byrne was'a; victim of the" Empress of. Ireland •disaster. It adds that the body of the wife had. not been found. This is the first intimation that. Mrs Byrne was amongst the victims. The Byrnes are members, of a prominenit Brisbane family noted for it? philanthropy. , •
