PANAMA TOLLS.

Senator SimmcMxb has -drawn' up :t compromise amendment on the Panama tolls question -which is likely to receive considerable Republican support. The amendment' provides that the passage of the Tolls Bill shall not he held as a waiver or relinquishment of am- right the "United States unay have with Britain, under the-treaty ratified on November. 1901. or otherwise to exempt the United States vessels or_ citizen's from payment of tolls or waiving or -impairing the United States' rights under the said' treaty with respect to the sovereignty of the' canal. It is expected! that the. vote on the measure will now he reached on Monday.
