The senior grade, ail local teams, was won by the Pirates Club, with Celtic second; junior grade—Albion (Christchurch) 1, Temuka 2; third grade—Zingari 1, High School 2; fourth grade —Star 1, Temuka 2. The match between Zingari-Rich-roond and the, local Athletic Club which was to have taken place at Dunedin yesterday was abandoned on account of the bad condition of the ground r-n'd the short-handedness of the Athletic team. THE BROWN SHIELD. (Peb Pbess Association.) Christchurch, June 3. , The Brown Shield match Canterbury v. Westland was played to-day. Christ- j church kicked off and throughout the i first spell played well registering 2 ! goals. The game was resumed in torrents of rain and though the Westland team wished to quit the field, was kept going. Westland were three players sliort and were playing a one back game. The Christchurch team's combination was superior to the visitors and a good understanding existed among the whole team. The referee abandoned the game with the score 3 goals to nil in Canterbury's favor. SOCCER. The match between the local Soccer Club and a- team from the Dunedin Old Boys' Club was played under unpleasant conditions on Takaro Park yesterday. Owing to unforeseen circumstances the local Club were unable to place on the field as strong a team as was expected, but they were successful in holding their own to a certain extent. Although there was nothing brilliant in the game, the local team deserve praise for so ably upholding their own, for they had many disadvantages to contend with. The Dunedin team did not show up- to any great extent, but no doubt the weather conditions were not in favor of good play. The match ended in a draw—--2 ioals all.
