HANNATON. The Hannaton School prizes -were distributed on Friday evening by Mr Lindsay, chairman of the School Committee, in the Nuknroa Coronation Hall. The following is a. list of the principal prize-winners:— Standard VI. —Patrick Foley (dux) 1, Michael Brohan 2, Kose-Havman 3.

The following ladies and gentlemen kindly gave special prizes:—Mesdames Kearton, Shrimpton, Lindsay, Saunders, :andf P.ark, Mjjsses? Bannerma.il and Evans, and Messrs Lindsay, Mirow, Shrimpton. Mayne, Murray, Saunders, Dohrmann, •antl Dick.
After the distribution of .the prizes to the school children on Friday evening the ladliies of the district held a concert, Christmas tree, and dance in. the Nuknroa Hall, the proceeds to he devoted to the piano fund. The programme consisted of action .songs by the school children, who were trained: by Miss Bnnnerman, assisted by Miss Blackio (recitations); Jessie Sullivan (Highland fling), and 11. Mirrow, who hails from New Britain, and who gave a native dance.
Wlie,ra the concert was over Santa Clans arrived amidst a fanfare of penny trumpets, etc. The Christmas tree was soon cleared of its load of toys, when refreshments were served, and a very enjoyable' time, was brought to a close with a dance till the wee small hours of the, morning. Mr -Murray, chairman of the Hall Comiwittee, thanked the ladies for their effort, and congratulated them on the satisfactory amount raised; about £l4.
