A LOCAL SCOTT MEMORIAL.

To the Editor.

Sir, —The suggestion made by Mrs Douglas that there should be erected in Oariraru a suitable memorial of Captain Scott and his comrades is one. 'which T have no doubt will' meet with general approval. It is not necessary to have an elaborate and costly monument, and we might do well to adopt the proposal made by Mrs Douglas as +o the form of the monument and the limit of subscription. Is lor adults and Id for children. If a small committee is formed to collect subscriptions and carry out the proposal, it will no doubt receive from the public general support.—l am. etc.. E P. LEE.
