SCHOOL VACATIONS.

WAIMATE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. Tko aunual break-up took place yesterday. In tb.9 afternoon the prizes were presented in the infant department. There was a fair attendance of parents, who thoroughly enjoyed the very good entertainment provided by the'infants under .Miss Crawford. Several action songs were rendered, recitations given, and other items of interest. ■ The Chairman of the School Committee (Mr Hassail) presided, and the Mayoress (Mrs Black) presented the prizes and gifts. The Rev. G. Stockwell spoke a few words on behalf of the Ministers' Association, and each of the children received a text card provided by the Association. After the, prize distribution the children were invited to a free,picture. show by Mr M'Gr'ath, and. needless to-i'say.-there was no loitering on-the road i to the Olympia Hall..
