CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY.
(Per Press Association.) Christ-church, June 11. At the Chiistcluiich Presbytery it was reported that as the Committee had so far not been able- to nieet, the. peti-tion-for presentation to Parliament in connection, with the ne temere decree was not vet ready. ' The Rev. P. Wood, convener of the Committee, said that he had been making inquiries, and had recoived an interesting letter from Canada dealing with tire marriage laws there. This would be discussed when the report crane up. It referred, he said, to a case in the Supreme Court, where a mar; riage, solemnised by a minister, had been dissolved. - ■ ' A deputation from the laymen's missionary movement waited on the Presbytery a.nd asked members to consider tire advisability of inviting the General Assembly to meet in Christen inch in 1912. The delegates said that they were of the opinion that this would be a good thing for the Presbyterian cause in Chiistchurch and Canterbury. The acting-Moderator thanked' the deputation, and . said the Presbytery would consider their suggestion.
