G UESSING COMPETITION. The Highland biillock, which afforded sucli keen interest in the guessing competitions in connection with the Winter fcShow, was weighed at Messrs Hastie and Co.'s. premises in the presence of Messrs T. E. Jefcoate, J. H. Morris, and H. V. Fidton, when, the correct weight was found to be 621bs. For the Singer Sewingjnaehiue competition,, . Aliss K. Wood (Beaumont) gu'essed 612-ilb. and as her's was the. nearest guess, she wins the large sewing machine. Mrs George Bruce (Kakamii) guessed 6131b, and takes . the small Singer sewing machine; while Mrs Greer (Patearoa) guessed 609 Jib, and wins the third prize of £l. The following were close up : —Miss Quennie Keith (Ashburton), 6151b; Miss Alice M. Greer (Patearoa), 607J1b; Miss J. Cotter (Heriot), CO7Ub; Miss Catherine Wilson (Musselburgh), GOlilb; Mrs Kenny (Dunedin), 6001b); Mrs Andrews (Dunedin), 6001b. The guesse ranged from 1851b to 40291b. In the open guessing competition for the Highland bullock, for which prizes of £4, £3 3 £2, and £1 were offered by the Society, Messrs G. Leishman (Whare Flat) and J. Baker (Empire Hotel, Dunedin) guessed the exact weight—6l2lb—•and divide the first and second prizemoney. H. Meeking (Nevada, Eoslyn) wins the third prize with a guess of Glllb, and G. A. Naismith (East Taieri) wins the fourth prize with' a. guess of 6101b. The next closest guesses' were : Adam Nelson (Glenore) 6091b, J. T. Rogerson (Dunedin) 6151b. The guesses ranged from 371b to 62151b. For Children's Hacking Cough at night, Woods' Great Peppermint Cure, Is 6d, 2s 6d.
