(Per Press Association.) Rotorua, June 10. The Hon. Mr Macdonald addressed a, large meeting her"e to-night. He said, a progressive public works policy was essential to the proper development of the country. Native landowners phoukl be placed, on the same footing as Europeans as regards local taxation, but safeguards were necessary in respect of land dealing. Next session he would introduce an amendment to the Native Land Bill embodying the suggestions of the Native Land Court Judges, based. on the experiences of the 1909 Act.
