HORSE RACING. ASHBURTON RACES. (Per Press Association.) Ashburton, May 10. The Ashburton County Racing Club's autumn meeting was concluded this afternoon under favorable conditions, the weather being bright and sunny iand the attendance above the average, while the fields were again 'large. The totalisator investments were exceptionally heavy, the total for the meeting being £14,197 10s as against £11,526 10s in May, 1911, and £6183 10s in May, 1910, though on the latter occasion bookmakers were licensed. The difference between last year's and this year's figures is such as to call for, remark. Results: MORTON HACK HANDICAP. Ceylon 1 Stephanos 2 Reef Points 3 Scratched: Foam Flake and Respond. Won easily by two lengths, Reef Points being as far behind Stephanos. Time, lmin 17 l-ssec.. WINCHMORE WELTER HANDICAP. Kilts led till the distance, when Probable drew away and won by two lengths, while half a length separated second and third. Time, lmin 30sec. AUTUMN HANDICAP. From a. good start Sea King went to the front and led all the way, winning easily by three lengths,, a similar distance dividing second and third. Time, lmin 42 3-ssec. JUVENILE HANDICAP. Editah , ... 1 Glenowe ... 2 Firmhold ..' 3 Scratched: Maple Leaf and Wedding Ring. Glenowe made the running, but Editah overhauled him in the straight, and won by a neck, Firmhold being six lengths away. Time, lmin 16sec. DISPOSAL HANDICAP. The winner took the lead from the start, and though Blytheboy made a determined effort in the straight, won by a length, while Blytheboy oiitclassed Vanada by four lengths. 'Time, imin 2 2-ssec. The winner quickly got to the front, and was never headed', eventually passing the post three lengths in front of Pilgrim's Way, who beat Kilts by a bare head. Time, lmin 16sec. AUCKLAND RACES.
