SOUTH OAMARU DISTURBANCES.
To the Editor. ,
Sir, —Will you kindly allow me ; a little more of your valuable space in reply to "Resident's" letter. In the first instance, are. the facts stated by "Visitor" or myself correct? "Resident" says I must suffer from a weak heart. I think a good-many of the residents must ~be suffering, from weak hearts and also weak "heads, "According to.medical "testimony, those "who indulge in intoxicating liquors have these complaints. 'He "also-says'l : have been, a long time - plucking up courage to make known the state of affairs in South Oairiaru. Well, seeing that "Visitor" is not here to defend himself, I took it upon myself to defend- his case, as he is quite.correct in. what he says. "Resident" says he has lived in South Oamaru a considerable time, and yet he seems in-' ignorance of the c\istomary- state of 'affairs. I think he must be very short-sighted and that his hearing is not of the best. He also says he has no occasion to pass through the township, but that is no reason why others have not. He must remem'ber we are not all belt residents. It seems "Visitor," like myself, has trod on his corns, and. as a rule, birds of a ■ feather flock together,, so if the cap fits "Resident" let, him wear it. Seeing that public notice has been drawn | to this disgraceful state of affairs, I; I I will close this correspondence as far as I am concerned."Thanking you for taking up so much of your valuable space, —I am, etc., RESIDENT No. 2. . South' Oamaru, Jan. Bth.
