ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

I (Per Press Association.) Wellington. December 27. The Australasian amateur athletic championship meeting was brought to •* close to-day in fine weather. The attendance was about 2000. Records were broken during the afternoon by H. Kerr, who-covered the three-miles walk in 21miu 30 3-osec, beating his own previous record of 22m in .2 2-ssec, and Wilson's record of 21min 37sec. G. N. Jiill put up a fine performance in the Two-mile Flat Handicap, beating the record he created on Friday'by 6 l-ssec and the New Zealand record" by 12sec. L. H. Kelly (Victoria) broke his own record of 6 OJin in the High Jump Handicap, clearing 6ffc 1 3-16 in, which is the Australasian amateur record. J. Brake lowered M'Kay's standard in the Pole i Jump, clearing". 10ft _9in. This event took nearly an-hour..and a-half to- decide, and could have been "abandoned with advantage". Opie and Keddell were again successful. Neither were pushed over much to secure the victory. Southee (New South Wales) put up a. good performance in the running broad jump, covering 22ft H in.
