Revived December 28, at 9.55 a.m. A tire on the Union Company's steamer Pareora, lying in the harbor, was extinguished by the crew. A. quantity of timber was damaged. THE SCHOONER CLYDE. Received December 28, at 1.3 a.m. Hobart, December 27. The- steamer Toroa, from Macquarrie Wbnd, brought the captain and crew . ; Mr Hatch's schooner Clyde, which •a as wrecked on the island, also a quantity of oil and some sails. Very little •a-as saved. These will bp shipped to New Zealand. The Clyde went ashore * :iriv in tho morning, drifting close in. The' crew reached the land safely, and --ith little difficulty. By tho Toroa Dr Mawson sent an interesting account of rlie doings of his party at the island. They t'onnd sea leopards, sea elephants, r-'iiguins. giant petrels, and Maori h>'tis. Wild cats were ahundant and ~>h plentiful. There was no difficulty In obtaining abundant food supplies. Kiftv-tivo sheep wero landed from the lonia.
