IMPERIAL UNITY.
SPEECH BY LORD DUDLEY. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyrloht.J (Per Press Association,) Received December 22, at 0.35 a.m. • London, December 21. Lord Dudley, speaking at Worcester, said the greatest security for Imperial unity and colonial adhesion' lay in continually sending the best boys, soundly educated, to.the colonial independencies. He did not suggest a likelihood of deterioration in the colonies, but considering that Australia was 15,000 miles away it was likely, unless there was an influx of new British blood there would be a danger of development into a separate type. It was impossible to conceive* that a people'so far separated wcrilfl remain closely knit in customs, views, and development, especially as the two countries-.were climatically different, without-an infusion of the British strain. He believed the point was fully recognised overseas.
