WATERSIDE WORKERS' CLAIMS. [By Electhic Telegraph—Copyright.] (Per Pkess Association.) Received December 20, at 10.20 p.m. Sydney, December 20. The special board appointed to enquire into the late waterside- workers' trouble, has issued an award. It applies to the. wharf laborers employed in. the inter-State coastal trades, and practically leaves the rate of pay unaltered. The pay for casual work is fixed at 15d per hour, the claim of Is Od being refused ; overtime rate between seven on Monday morning and four on Saturday afternoon, Is 10A-d per hour; for work on Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday, an eight-hour day, 4s 6d an hour; other recognised holidays, 2s 3d. Some, of the working conditions are varied, representing a reduction of the working hours. Men engaged, but not set to work, are paid full rates for the first hour or a portion thereof, and half rates afterwards. The much disputed tea hour is fixed at from 5.30 to 6.30. Preference is granted to unionists. Tim award has a. currency of two years. The wharf laborers are dissatisfied with the award, and it is understood intend to appeal for a general award. Practically it is the old agreement, against which they struck. A. recurrence of the trouble is threatened. The men engaged on the North Coast Company's steamer Barring Bar tonight refused to work overtime. The vessel was loaded at the bows, and the stern was fight. The office staff finished the loading.

(Per Press Association.) Napier, December 20. The Union. Company's Wanaka arrived to-day coal laden, but the waterside workers refused to accept engagements to work the cargo on the ground that the rates were too low, and no coal was discharged. The Napier Waterside Workers' Union met to-night and decided to demand an increase of threepence per hour ordinary time (Is 9d instead of Is 6'd) and eightpence ordinary overtime (2s 9d instead of 2s Id).
