DUNTROON NOTES.
(From-Our Own Correspondent.) The excitement of the elections: is now pretty well over. Great interest was taken in the contest and a large number of people was about : the post office to hear the results, ■. on both.ballot nights, both parties arguing their political points in good humor. And now the topic, Will there be another election or not ?- We. have been getting a nice lot of rain lately, and the farmers are in the hopes of . a good harvest this season. Stock' has plenty of feed and should leave the farms fat. We had. "a thunderstorm on Saturday, and along . the north. side of the Maerewhenua river hailstones fell that did a lot of damage to the fruit gardens and turnip crops. While the farmers don't mind rain, they don't feel too easy with this eleci trical weather and hailstorms flitting, about. During the month-of Novemberwe. registered 176 points of rain, and so far this month we have had. 208 points. There has been some -sheepworrying going on • lately, and during Saturday night Mr A.-. Will had his sheep_ in one paddock badly knocked aboiit, and. two or three of-them are not likely to get over it. A watch-is being kept for the dogs, arid the owner or owners will be made to stand the damage. There are one or two small paddocks of oats ready to cut when the weather permits, but there won't be general liarvest until February this season. Most of the crops have only just got out'in ear; all look like giving - good - returns and something to handle, > -•
