FAREWELL TO MR SANDO.

A largely-attended - " congregational social was held in Wesley Church Hall last evening for the purpose of bidding farewell and health and prosperity to Mr R. T. Sando on his leaving for Auckland and his projected marriage. The Rev. W. J. "Williams, - on behalf of the members of tlie Church, expressed regret at Mr Sando'? leaving, and emphasised the good work which lie had accomplished in the Chutch since his arrival in Oamaru. He had put-liis heart and soul into everything he had taken up, and a notable feature-of his. labors was the high standard the choir had attained under bis leadership, while he. had been equally successful in tlie Sunday School and the 'Bible" Class. Mr .Williams then p.re«mted Mr Sando with a travelling, bag,, a pair of binoculars, and a pair- of silver "candlesticks on be l half of the congregation, andill doing so wished" him' and' the "future Mrs Sando all happiness and'prosperity. Before' Mr Sando replied another presentation was made, Mr : O. Champtaloup - being called upon- ..by. the members-of the Ypung Men's .Prohibition League to do lionor to their departing president.. In lianding Mr Sando a gold sovereign case ..Mr Cliamptaloup referred to the active interest their guest had taken, fn the 'welfare of the League, and he felt sure that all the members regretted Mr Sando's departure as they would , miss his enthusiasm and general all-round capability as a no-license worker.
