DUNTROON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

, Tlic crops in this district are very nearly all in stack, and three or four farmers have threshed. One farmer threshed 14 bushels to the acre (24 acres wheat) ; another who sowed 14 acres of wheat reaped nine bushels per acre. Another threshed o4S bushels of wheat from 80 acres, barely seven bushels per acre, 20 acres of wheat averaged 18 bushels. Most of the grain is threshing well to the bulk, but you can imagine what the bulk is like when there are five or six chains between the stooks in some cases, and very few of the crops are taking lib of twine per acre to bind them, 'whereas the average should be about 41b. The potatoes are looking well considering the season, and rape., and turnips are promising bettor with the late, rains, inn- most of the farmers are not too sanguine about the amount of feed they will provide unless we get more rain to keep them going. Our rain fall for January was 2.158 points.

The Druids held their usual fortnightly meeting last Saturday, when the officers elected were installed into the various offices. The installing officer (P.A. Uro. M. Stalker), who very ably carried out this ceremony, receiver] a hearty vote of thanks from the lodge. P.A. Bid. J. Tallentire was presented with a- P.A. diploma during the evening. •

Mr V. Paul met with- an accident last week while chaff-cutting, receiving a nasty flesh wound on the arm, and his many friends will be pleased to hear he is getting all right again.
