HOTEL CONFERENCE.
(Per Pkess Association.) Wellington, December J!>. The New Zealand Federated Hotel and Restaurant Employees' Industrial Association is holding its first annual conference to-day. Delegates are present representing Auckland, Dunediu, Wellington, and Christchurch. The conference will consider the executive's report, including a statement of the work in connection with the passage of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, and securing tho recent awards in'the hotel trade; instructions to members and country workers as to their position under the new Act; demands to be made, and consideration of obtaining fresh awards in restaurant and private hotel trades in the four centres; the question of country organisations and the insistence on the observance of the Act in country districts. Mr--Long: (Auckland) was re-elected president of the conference, and Mr Cartv (Wellington) secretary. The most part of the morning was devoted to a revision of the rules and constitution of the Federation, to the consideration and framing demands for a new restaurant award.
