Christehiueh, December C. Tlic Hon. T. Mackenzie passed through Christcliurcli this morning on his wav to Dunedin. He spoke hopefully of the success of the small fruit farm settlements at Waerongi in the North Island, where several farms have already been partly planted and are ready for occupation. The Department will "advance about. £lul) to the selector and its officers will give advice and supervision. If the scheme is a success it will bring under pvolitable cultivation a la rye area of country hitherto regarded as waste.
