DUNEDIN MARKETS. (Per Pkess Association.) . Dunedin, November 9. . Fat Cattle.—Only 98 head were yarded. The quality was only medium. Some butchers had a few on hand from last week, but prices were much on a parity with last week's rates. Best bullocks £ll to £l2, extra' to £l4, medium £9 10s to £lO, inferior £8 to £S 10s, best cows and heifers £8 to £9, extra to £l2, medium £6 10s to £7 os, inferior £4 10s to £5 10s. ' Fat Sheep—l 496 were penned, a small yarding, but the quality was very good, comprising chiefly good to prime wethers, with odd pens of very wellfinished ewes. Although some of the butchers had a few on hand prices ad- | vauced fully Is 6d per head on last , week's rates. Prime wethers 28s 6d to 335, good 26s to 28s, medium 22s to 245, inferior 20s to 21s 6d, best ewes 23s to 24s 6d, extra to 27s 3d, medium 19s to 21s, inferior 14s to 16s, shorn wethers 17s to 21s, shorn ewes to 18s 9d. Lambs. —There was a medium yarding of 146. The quality was perhaps not quite so good as that offered last week, but competition was very keen, and prices were Is 6d to 2s better. Prime 15s 6d to 17s 6d, medium 12s to 14s.

HOME MEAT MARKET. Messrs' Gilbert Anderson and Co. report as follows under date London, September 30th: —• Hot, unseasonable weather has been against the trade, re'ducing the demand, especially for fresh killed. Supplies of Home and Continental have been large, and prices weaker. Scotch lamb has been selling down to sd. Chilled beef has maintained its prices, hinds being sold up to 5J,d. Frozen beef on the market is unchanged, but there is a good demand at increased prices for beef to arrive. Canterbury 'mutton on the market is quoted fd lower. Forward prices are fully maintained and slightly firmer. North Island, Australian, and Plate mutton prices arc unchanged. New Zealand ewes are in demand at 3:} d. Lamb market prices are unchanged, but there is an eager enquiry for goods in store and to arrive at better prices. Shipments from all sources continue to be light, and stocks instorc are now very limited.
