PICTURE DRAMA.
This new and successful Form of entertainment "will be presented here ror the first time next Wednesday by the -Taylor-Carrington management, who have been fortunate enough to arrange with John Fuller and Sons for the sole rights of production in New Zealand ot a pictorial dramatisation of Marcus Clarke's world-famous book, "For the Term of His Natural Life." The ; Lyttelton Times (Christchurch), April 22 sil y S: —"The pictorial dramatisation of Marcus Clarke's Australian book, 'For the Term of His Natural Life, attracted an exceptionally large attendance to the Theatre Royal last evening, the sale of tickets being stopped bv the City Council's inspectors some fifteen minutes before the time,of coml mencing. The tragic and' romantic story of the man who suffered for another's crime at the time when the penal code of Britain involved barbarities'which would make the present generation shudder, was presented in a most realistic and convincing manner. The scenic effects, being taken from Mother Nature herself, surpassed the efforts of the most successful scenic artist, while the acting of the principals in /this new method' of dramatic representation was entirely satisfactory. The general construction of the storyneed not be-outlined, as the book upon which it is based is an acknowledgedAustralian classic, but the scenes which close the story were portrayed with a vividness and semblance of actuality that was exceptionally realistic." Although the attraction is. an expensive one to bring, popular prices will prevail, and seats may now be booked at The Dresden without extra charge.
