WAIMATE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
SPRING SHOW. The .above show was opened in the Skating Rink 011 Friday afternoon. There was a very fine collection ft blooms-and plants. The judge, Mr P. G. Allen, of Tim am, expressed himself as highly pleased with the exhibitions- The following is the prize-list: — —Cut Blooms. — Collection of Narcissi, not more than 24 varieties and not more than 5 spikes of each; 2 entries —Mrs S. Studholme 1. —Pot Plants. — This section comprised a fine collection but 110 competition. . The judge spoke very highly of the quality and condition of the exhibits shown. —Decorative Section. Vase Narcissi, arranged for effect ; 7 entries —Miss Manchester 1, Mr P. Studholme 2. Bowl of Common Daffodils, foliage permitted—Mrs S. .T. Adams 1, Miss Manchester 2. Bunch of Violets with foliage, not exceeding G inches in diameter; 5 entries —Miss Manchester 1 and 2. Hand Bononet- —Miss Manchester I, Miss Lily Opie 2. Epergne of Flowers —Miss Manchester 1. Perry gives a special prize of bulbs for Narcissi (local grower) — Mrs Manchester. Mr K. Hassali gives Ids Gd tor most points in Decorative Section —Mrs Manchester. Messrs Thos. Norton. Ltd., nurserymen, Pahiatua, give prize, value Ids Gd for most noints in Cut Blooms —.'.lrs Adams and Miss Rattray (equal). Mr LeCocq gives 10s (id lor Primrcses —Miss Rattray. Mr F. J. White gives IDs Gd lor Flowering Shrubs—Mrs Manchester. The show will be open again tln.(Saturday) evening.
