PROSPERITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA.

In the Assembly the' Treasurer, in delivering his Budget, referred to the great prosperity of the State. The Government would take the burden oilindustry and protection and put it upon value created by the energies of the people 'in land and produce. Land would be freed from the income tax. This would mean a loss of tl'iOO in revenue. The additional tax on estates ot liftv thousand value would remain. The exemptions under the income tax wonl<l be from £2OO to £3OO. _ The duties on receipts would be abolished. An all-round increase of throe-fart lungs in the pound in the hind tax would be imposed, making the total tax 1 .',<! in the pound. He hoped thereby to raise £1.50,000 extra. An increment fax ol 20 per centum would be imposed on the increased value of the land transferred. This would secure an honest investment, and yield live thousand. From September Ist the minimum wages would be 8s per day, established for Government employees. The extra wages woiili, be paid out of the general revenue.
