FROZEN MEAT MARKET. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company, Limited, report as follows on the frozen meat market: Mutton, has met with a little better inquiry, but still suffers from a dull demand. Dutch supplies range from 6Jd to 7d per lb., and Home-grown sheep are firm at last rates.- Lambs are plentiful and meet a good inquiry. A feature is the increasing number of stallholders who handle frozen lamb. English lambs are selling at 7d to B£d per lb, which makes the quotations for New Zealand good value. <* New Zealand Mutton.—The only arrival is the Cornwall with 5922 carcases, but recent arrivals have not gone readily into consumption, and consequently stocks are fully equal to the very limited demands made upon them. Canterbury's are unchanged in values at olfd to 4d per lb, but North Islands, although nominally unchanged, "have a distinctly weaker tendency owing to the competition to sell. Ewes can be bought at 3d per lb. Frozen Lamb.—Receipts consist of 88,415 carcases from New Zealand, 5669 carcases from Australia and 7543 carcases from South America. The consumption has been well maintained, but thexirrivals have been rather in excess of the output, with the result that a slightly weaker tone has been apparent. The quantities afloat are heavy and forward sales are made on a lower basis than for spot transactions. Canterbury brands do not exceed 5-kl per lb, and North Islands are appreciably lower at prices -down to sgd per lb. A recovery, however, is not unlikely if the demand remains at its present level. Frozen Beef. —Stocks have been increased by 4355 quarters from New Zealand, 24,842 quarters from' Australia and 84,651 quarters from South America. Supplies are now plentiful and prices in consequence show a further decline. New Zealand beef commands a slight, preference at 3§d to 3Jd per lb for hinds, the former figure being the value of Argentine hinds, but Australian beef is now relegated to the last position at 3.U1 per lb for hinds and 2jd to 3d per lb for fores.
