PERSONAL.
Mr T. Clarkson, who is retiring from the editorship of the (jisborne Times, was last night entertained at Gisborneby a gathering of citizens, presided over by the Acting-Mayor (Mr W. Pcttie), and presented with a purse of sovereigns and an address 011 behalf of 133 contributors.
The Inangaliua Times (Reefton), of July 15th, has the following:—A quiet and very pretty wedding- took place at the Manse yesterday, where Mr H. K. Hooper, of the Consolidated Company's staff, eldest son of Mr W. Hooper, of Adelaide, and Miss H. W. (Mavt MOl- - youngest daughter of the late Rev. R. AY. Morley, of Somersetshire, England, were united in marriage. The Rev. D. Calder, R.A., officiated. Mr Horace Avory, the. well-known King's Counsel, and Mr Thomas 11. Berridge, ex-M'.P.. have been created Judges of the English High Court.
