All classes sold at fully 15s to 20s per head above last week's rates. The quality on the whole was not up to the average. There was agood demand for prime heavy sheep at prices somewhat in sellers' favor, but light weights did not meet ■ with much attention. ADDIXGTOX MARKETS. (I'mi PI:KSS Association-.) Christchureh, July 27. At Addington live stock market there were moderate entries of Steele and :i good attendance. There was an improved demand for store sheep and fat lambs sold well, but firmed again. Far riieep opened a littlo easier, fat cattle troro firm at late rates, and pigs wore ii: goed demand. Store cattle inst with a poor sal:> and dairy cows wer-s in keen demand. The yarding of store sheep was considerably larger than of (ate, there being a good representation of. ai, classes, ewes being in larger number- . The ewes werp mostly aged and soundmonth sorts; with them was one es pecjal'y g;:;;d line of 2-tooth three-quar-terbre-ds. Thare was a fairly even lot of wethers, and the hoggets were of mixed quality. There were 85T fat lambs penned, and til.* better sorts sold well, prices ranging from lis 6d to 17s 9d, and .. few extra to 10s. There were 400 taken for freezing, 280 were, passed, and the butchers bought 71. There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep, mostly wethers, the average quality being better than the week liefore, which will account for the higher range of prices:. Though the market opened a "litde easier it firmed up, aad values came fully up to last week's level. Prime ewes sold we'll, as there Rio few on offer. No business was done for export, and the butchers were able to absorb the whole supply. The range of prices was: Extra prime wethers to 28s 6d. pi hue 19s to 25s Gd, lighter las to 18.3 6d, extra prime ewes to 22? sd, prime 16s 6:1 to 20s, medium 14s to His, light and aged 9s 3d to 13s Gd. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 34 head, a large proportum being very prime quality. There was a keen de-

rnand, and nearly all lots were at the lire vis: us rates, the market, if anything, being lirmsr. Steer:; made £7 los to £ll and £'l2, and extra to £IG ss, heifers £8 10s to £8 10s, extra to £l2, cows £0 to £'B 7s 6d, extra to £ll 10s (equal to 2Us to 2Ss per lOOib, according to quality). A line of 24 heifers from the- North Island made £lO 8a to £lO 15s. A small yarding of store cattle met with a poor demand, 15 to IS months, making <ios to 58s. 2-year-old steers -£8 los, 3-year-old heifers £4 os, and dr.\ cows 80s to £4 os. Dairy cows sold well at £3 10s to £B, and extra to £ll. • A moderate entry of pigs came forward, and thev met with a rather improved demand, though prices were unchanged. Choppers sold up to £3 12s, large hacone.rs 44s to 48s, lighter 37.s 6d to 42s Gd (equal to 4d per lb), large stores 22s to 255. medium 12s to 18s, raid small, Ss to 10s. There were no weaners offered.
