(Per Pbess Association.) Wellington. July 26. The Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are: The weather lias been cold in all parts and very wintry in the southern districts especially. The barometer has risen slowly everywhere, irtth moderate to strong southerly grinds generally. Present indications are tor moderate to strong southerly winds generally and cool and changeable weather. The barometer will probably rise slowly southwards of East Cape and Kawhia. but little movement is expected elsewhere. Christchurch. July 27. The minimum temperature on Sunday night in Christchurch was 29.3deg. en Monday night 20deg.. last night lS.4deg. The frost has played havoc with water pipes, and plumbers are vrorking under pressure. The winter generally has been severe, and has been felt with special keenness because it follows on a succession of mild seasons. AshburtoH; July 2". Another spell of keen, sharp weather set in this week. Sixteen degrees of frost were recorded this morning.
