THE WEATHER.
(Peb Press Association.) Wellington, July 22. The Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are: The barometer has fallen everywhere and especially in the, north, and heavy rain has been experienced northward of Kaikoura and ITokitika. Strong southerly winds have predominated. The present indications are for very heavy rain in the North Island and northern parts of the South Island, with floods in many parts and cloudy and unsettled weather generally. * A sharp rise in the barometric pressure will probably take place tomorrow in the north, but a further fall is probable in the south, where the glass is very unsteady. Strong southerly winds will probably prevail.
