OAMARU NO-LICENSE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Oamaru No-license Association was held in the. Baptist Church Hail last evening, there being ii fair attendance of lady and gentlemen members. .The President (Mr J. H. Milligan)' occupied the chair. Apologies for absence ivwc received from Mr ii. Milligan. the Bcv. W. J. AVilliaras, and Mr H.' Grenfell.

'Die Chairman explained that the meeting had been called so that the Association's delegates to the recent annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance (the Revs. F. G. Buckingham and T. H. Roseveare) might submit their report. Before proceeding with the business for which the meeting was called, Mr M'Farlane moved a motion of sympathy with Mrs Blair, her daughter, and friends of the late R. Blair in their

recent sad bereavement. Mr M'Farlane referred to the late Mr Blair's genuine kind-heartedness and to the loss not only the town but the district generally had sustained by his death. The late Mr Blair had helped the cause of tempera nee not only by his means but by his presence at the various committee meetings. The meeting acquiesced in the motion by silently standing.

' The. Rev. T. H. Roseveare, on behalf of himself and his brother delegate, verbally reported on the conference, giving a detailed account.of the various meetings which had been held and previously reported on. The following resolutions of the Dominion Conference were - unanimously endorsed, on the motion of the Rev. F. G. Buckingham, seconded by the Rev. T. H. Roseveare: —

(1) That we demand a special vote on Dominion prohibition, with full provision for giving effect thereto if confirmed.

(2) That this special vote he taken on the day of the next general election. (3) That the question be submitted"to the electors on a separate paper of distinctive color, to be kept and counted separately. (4) That we demand the bare majo-rity-and all amendments dealing with tlie local law affirmed by the Convention of June, 190 D, amongst which are the abolition of bottle licenses; no breweries in no-license areas: no beer depots within ten miles of a no-license electorate; and generally to secure proper and effective administration". It was decided that copies of the resolutions be forwarded to the Hon. Tv Y. Duncan, the Prime "Minister, and the Executive of the New Zealand Alliance.
