The following is tlie result of the National Steeplechase Grafnax ... ' ... ... 1 Generality 2 Lycaon ... ... 3 All the acceptors started. Bannock.. Squirm,.. and Grafnax were first away. Grafnax led over the first obstacle from Billiards, Generality, and Squirm. There was little change to the seven furlongs, wliere Grafnax still had charge, Kororbitand Billiards being his nearest attendants. Billiards fell at the* next jump. Approaching the treble Harvest joined Grafnax, and those two were leading from Workmaster, Eyot, and Kororoit. The last jump of the treble proved disastrous to Harvest, who fell and brought down Eyot and Riverbank. The latter was so badly injured that he had to be shot. Grafnax was going splendidly and continued to lead, his nearest attendant being Kororoit until the latter ran off. Grafnax, increasiiig his advantage, led by 'three lengths at the six furlongs from Ripon, followed by Squirm, Workmaster, and Confederate. At "this stage Stately "and Nigel fell, and Ripon came down at the next fence. Half a mile from home Grafnax was showing the way to Lycaon, Generality, Seymour, arid Workmaster, who crossed the last fence in that order. Grafnax then drew away and won by five lengths, eight lengths between second and third. Time, 6min 3osec. Received July 10, at 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, July 10.
