The Karamea will finish loading this afternoon, and will sail for Tirnaru either to-night or to-morrow morning. She takes from Oamaru for the London market 11,000 carcases. 11 casks casings, 17 casks oil, 60 casks tallow, and 22 bales of wool and skins. Tito "Wanaka is announced to leave Auckland on Thursday next for Oamaru. She will probablv load here on the ISth. 7 . , The small steamer Purau. hired «nme weeks ago to act as tug at Tirnaru during the absence of Dreuge 300 at Oamaru, sailed for Lyttelton \esterday, but owing to a heavy sea was compelled to return to Timaru. During her voyage from London jo Australia, the new Huddart-Parker liner Zealandia, which is to go into the Vancouver-Sydney service, averaged a speed of 13V knots, using oni> five boilers out of seven. Her coal consumption was only 63 tons per day. A London shipping expert says of the Zealandia: —"Her size, capacity and equipment will undoubtedly give her a foremost place amongst the vessels of 1910 constructed for colonial owner.-;." It is understood that Captain Phillips, late of the Aorangi, will have roinmand of the Zealandia, and that the other officers for the vessel will be drawn from the Huddart-Parker Company.
