WAIMATE HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.

A meeting of the above was held on Tuesday, 21st, at S p.m. Present — ! Messrs J. Sinclair (chairman), W. M. Hamilton, Sanders, Inkster, Dr Barclay, and Rev. A. S. Morrison. The Rector's report was received. After giving the roll number as 59, made up of 32 boys and 27 girls, the report dealt with the proposed agricultural course, which had been proposed by the Education Board. The instructor had arrived from Scotland,, and had commenced his duties. He would visit Waimate one day per week, and the course should be of advantage to the district.

The Inspector's report was received and approved. A resolution was carried congratulating the teaching staff upon the very favorable report. The Scholarship Committee reported recommending that the following subsidies be added to teachers' salaries": — Rector £3O, first assistant £7O, second assistant £4O; the effect of which would be an increase in the first and third cases of £lO each. After considerable discussion the report was adopted, Mr Sanders dissentThe question of frequent changes *in school books was referred to, and the Rector made an explanation which was accepted as satisfactory. Accounts amounting to £2 10s 8d were passed for payment.
