BOROUGH STREETS.

To the Editor.

Sir,—While freely acknowledging the ability of the Borough Council to spend the rates, I must draw attention to what must amount to a considerable sum that has recently been spent in improving an out-of-the-way corner of Ouse street, benefiting practically only one section, and this owned, I believe, by a Councillor. I will not say that the work was unnecessary, but there's many other streets in the town that are much more frequented than the one under notice, and that are sorely in need of something being done by way of improvement. I would also point out the disgraceful mess that has been made by the Council's employees in their half-hearted x effort to form a footpath on the northern side of the street the section where so much money lias been spent.—l am, etc., RESIDENT.
