Hates' summary and forecast are: The weather has been unsettled and elotidv on the East Coast of the North Island and gloomy at rimes in nianv parts of the faoutli Island, but generally fine moderate southerly winds have prevailed in the north and northerlies have increased in the south, and n pale (apparently local) w reported to Kaifcoura this aUernoon. The present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere, with freshening northerly winds. The low pressure 7. liich is probably approaching threatens a change in the weather, especially m ibx> south.
