THE PRICE OF MEAT.
To the Editor. Sir,—l wonder if the butchers ever wonder if the consumers ever wonder when the price of meat is to be reduced. It is certainly time our butchers reduced the extreme prices that' have been ruling for ever so long, and all through a period when sheep were selling at ridiculously low figures, as the graziers well know. I might state that the price-lists of Dunedin and Christchurch retail shops would make a queer comparison compared to Oamaru charges. The butchers here might say that it is the excellent quality of the meat that necesitates higher charges, but I doubt whether they would make this statement. If they do say so, it would b?. of interest to know the ages of all cows and ewes killed at tluT Abattoirs, ' c'.nd for whom slaughtered. —I am, etc., HOUSEHOLD !iR.
